Rory Launch
Rory Learning Resource pilot

Irwin Stuart Design have designed and produced an innovative games pack featuring a dog called Rory, neglected by its heavy-drinking master, which is to be used to address the harm caused by alcoholic parents to their children, commissioned by Alcohol Focus Scotland.

Launched by Fiona Hyslop, MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning earlier this month at Lady of Lourdes primary in Blackburn, it is hoped that adults will better understand the impact of alcohol misuse on youngsters.

"I believe that its message can support children who do unfortunately experience the unpredictable and often violent repercussions of living with alcohol abuse," the SNP politician said.

Jack Law, Chief Executive of Alcohol Focus Scotland, said "We are pleased to be working with schools and organisations in West Lothian to pilot this important resource pack".

Together with Irwin Stuart Design, Alcohol Focus Scotland worked with NHS Health Scotland and Do Be Ltd,
on the project.

Around 1500 children at nine primary schools will be involved in the Rory Learning Resource pilot, which will
last six months.

November 2008
Gold Award Winners at CIPR Awards

Irwin Stuart Design working in partnership with Geronimo Communications won the prestigious Gold Award in the Best Publication category at a glitzy award ceremony in the Edinburgh Sheraton Hotel on Thursday 20th November. The award was for stunning design work carried out on the Bórd na Gáidhlig Annual Report.

The design featured a side-by-side translation from Gaelic to English which promotes the use and understanding of the Gaelic language. Needless to say champagne was immediately popped and an impromptu celebration took place which obviously lasted well into the small hours.
